COLLECTIONS
Audiobooks: Our collection of over 1000 titles includes abridged and unabridged adult fiction and nonfiction in both cassette and audio CD. The adult audiobooks are shelved before the reference department.
Biography: Our diverse biography collection consists of hundreds of copies and range from literary figures to famous and infamous personalities. Biographies are shelved separately following the fiction section.
Cassette: The library has over 1,900 cassettes that include several self-instruction foreign language tapes, classical, jazz, folk, and an "oldies but goodies" selection of rock, popular and country music.
Non-Fiction: Our nonfiction collection houses more than 53,000 volumes, and includes, but is not limited to, history, business and general culture.
Fiction: Our fiction collection includes more than 17,000 titles of classic novels, fantasy, westerns, romance, mystery, science fiction, and old and current best sellers, which are organized alphabetically by the author's last name.
Military History: This separate reference collection holds a comprehensive selection of Marine Corps history books. Among them are important fiction works, biographies and books written by and about Marines. The collection also includes records of the USMC in Vietnam on microfiche, the Globe and earlier base newspapers dating back to 1942, the Jacksonville Daily News and earlier city newspapers dating back to 1945, and bound volumes of Marine Crops Gazettes and Leatherneck magazines dating back to the 1940's.
Foreign Language Books: We have a small selection of books written in a foreign language. Others are available through interlibrary loan.
Juvenile: The children's collection is made up of more than 14,000 titles appropriate for preschoolers to young adults. This section includes fiction, nonfiction, picture books, easy readers and biographies. All juvenile books, audiobooks and videos are housed in the children's room.
Serials: This collection includes more than 310 titles of general interest magazines, research periodicals and most known national and local newspapers on microform. It is available in the reference department.
U.S. Marine Reading List: This collection of fiction and nonfiction titles are shelved separately from the general collection. Multiple copies are available for checkout and reading list printouts are available at the circulation desk.
Reference: The library's general reference collection of over 4500 volumes includes substantial works of military science, business, and history. A number of resources are available on CD-ROM.
Video: The adult and juvenile video collection contains more than 3,400 titles. The adult collection includes how-to, exercise, health, biographical and educational titles as well as some Marine Corps and military history titles. The juvenile video collection consists of a very good selection of movies and nonfiction videos for children and young adults.
